ENG/EFP/SNG News Package #2
Sony NEX FS-100 U  Is the little brother of the Sony CineAlta Super 35mm Cameras. The FS100's large CMOS sensor is equivalent in size to the Super 35mm sensor on Sony's PMW-F3 camera, creating the same shallow-focus look resembling high-end features and commercial production, and also features the optimum number of effective pixels for shooting HD moving images. The exceptional exposure latitude and sensitivity of the sensor delivers outstanding HD images subtle in detail and color gradation while avoiding image artifacts typical of HDSLRs.  

The 35mm E-Mount Interchangeable Lens System allows the use of a variety of Emount lenses from Sony Zeiss, Tamron, Sigma and Cosina, as well as almost any 35mm lens when mounted via optional lens adapters, making your lens options virtually limitless. The NEX-FS100UK includes a Sony E-Mount 11x (18-200mm) F3.5–6.3 OSS zoom lens. The new PS mode with a 28Mbps bit-rate enables the NXCAM Super35 to capture full HD (1920x1080) at 60P. Over and under cranking is achieved through recording images at a different frame rate from that used for playback, enabling full HD (1920°~1080) progressive slow and quick motion; frame rates are selectable. S&Q recording plus last scene review permits checking the S&Q effects on-set, immediately after shooting the scene without drilling down menus.

When using external recorders, the NEX-FS100 provides uncompressed 4:2:2 footage via HDMI Output with embedded time code and pull down markers. It can also record HD simultaneously to an optional FMU128 and SD or MS cards.

Sony introduces a new member of its CineAlta camcorder line-up: the PMW-F3 Super 35mm camcorder. It inherits DNA from the F35, which has been used for years in high-end digital cinematography, as well as most of the features and file-based workflow capabilities of PMW-EX1R and EX3 XDCAM EX™ solid-state memory camcorders.

The PMW-F3 is equipped with the newly developed Exmor™ Super 35 CMOS image sensor, PL lens mount adapter, and dual SxS® card slots for 1920 x 1080 full-HD recording. Sony offers two affordable models of the PMW-F3: one is without a lens, the PMW-F3L; the other includes three PL lenses (35/50/85mm, T2.0), the PMW-F3K.
The PMW-F3 features future expandability, including software option (CBK-RGB01)* 
that enables RGB 4:4:4 baseband signal output with S-LOG gamma for external recording which means it can be used in an HDCAM SR® workflow. Another future offering is a 3D-LINK option (CBK-3DL01)*, which allows two camcorders to be controlled simultaneously for 3D stereoscopic shooting.
